I was wondering if all of you are aware of this?

There was recenly an article in BARK magazine about how black dogs are mostly overlooked and put to death in higher numbers then other dogs at shelters.

please share this website with everyone you know

Yeah, isn't that unfortunate? Have you ever noticed how hard it is to get a good picture of a black dog. Many are extremely beautiful but they never look as good in pictures as other colored dogs. I used to have a black dog...Willy, RIP, died in Oct of 2005...poor guy. I had a really hard time getting good pics of him and he was a pretty guy!
There are some nice pics of black dogs here though...

I believe you already posted about this subject here.

I mean, basically, in *this* tribe, you are "preaching to the choir".

~ I mean, basically, in *this* tribe, you are "preaching to the choir". ~

my point is to preach to the choir...... AND get the choir to preach to those not yet touched!!
this is something that needs to be posted and talked and preached about.......
      ALL THE TIME!!!
I had just revisted the www.blackpearldog.com web page
AND THESE DOGS NEED MORE PEOPLE TO CARE!!!!
      and to preach about them!!!

if everyone on this tribe started talking to other people about this syndrome...... isn't there a chance???
that some of those folks just might pick a black dog from a shelter???

sorry if I bore you Silver Unicorn..............
but if I can't preach about this here.......... there is no point to here....

You don't "bore" me. I was just suggesting that you need not pound it into our heads. WE get it! I do all that I can to support black dogs being adopted!

You could reach out to a *LOT* more people, if you posted about it in dogzone and Dog Tribe. Both of those tribes have many, many more folks than we have here.

And it would be especially good to post about it in the Dog Rescue tribe.

However, if you keep trying to pound the info. into peoples heads, I have found that they tend to start ignoring you. (Not you personally... )

          Hey Silver Unicorn........
you sure are a negative person.......(that's a much nicer thing for me to say then what I'm REALLY thinking)

it's not as if there are tons of things going on in this tribe.........

I don't think you saying I am pounding things or preaching, is very nice.

I had not mentioned Black Dog Syndrome, by name, nor had I given the www.blackpearldogs.com website.

I do apologise to the other members of this tribe, if they feel I am wrong to bring things of actual importance to light in this format.
If I have offeneded ANYONE other then Silver Unicorn.......
PLEASE let me know and I'll take my plight elsewhere..

I don't belong to all of those other dog tribes.

You can still post things in them Jellin or you could join them just to post that info about black dogs. I find it interesting, but since I am already into dog rescue, I knew it already. Most people into rescue do. One thing I have noticed about networking forums is that topics do come up over and over. I belong to some other dog forums and the same topics come up over and over, but...in defense of you, Jellin, someone new may see it and be informed by your post.
This is not to criticize you silverunicorn. I sometimes get tired of seeing the same info over and over. If I feel impatient I just scroll on...
Now lets not fight, we all love dogs , me, I love all doggies black and otherwise and belong to a lot of forums where the same stuff comes up over and over. But if we don't share our knowledge with new inexperienced people who will? Also I learn stuff about dogs that I never thought of and it is due to people sharing some things they know that they are under no obligation to share.

By the way Wendy, thanks for sharing the pictures...they were cool!

Again, you are *assuming* how I feel. I am NOT "offended".

I'm sorry you see my comments as negative. You say you want to spread the word, and I am giving you suggestions as to other places to continue spreading the word.

It's a shame that you are upset so easily. You are reading a lot more into what I am saying, than I am actually saying.

May I suggest that when you begin a thread on a particular subject, that you continue to post about that subject in the same thread, rather than begin a new one? (Mind you, this is just a *suggestion*. It is also good internet etiquet. Also, when you use a person's "name", it will get you more respect if you write it the way they do. For instance, my screen name is *one* word, not two. )

And it's not difficult to join the other tribes. Really.

Perhaps I felt it was being "pounded into my head" because several people all posted about it all at the same time, in a couple different places? I don't know. But you really don't need to get so defensive.

Relax. There's no reason for anger. We're all quite friendly here.

Posting it in the middle of a thread doesn't necessarily get the word out. I never saw the post in the other thread, probably because I wasn't drawn to that thread (which wasn't originally about the subject of this thread). That happens a lot. I wouldn't say that creating a specific post for it is bad etiquette at all.

Wow, I never knew about black dog syndrome. I've had many black dogs but I've never heard of this. I will spread to word to my friends and people in my dog training class. Thanks for sharing.

but i am very lucky that i got her to take me home and i am glad the pack leader approved too cause i am THE BOMB!!! They love me so much they cant contain it sometimes. They drove from Seattle to Spokane (animal shelter) to get me and i was VERY sick. This is my 4th home and it is forever... unless we move.. together though this time!
